Objective

This drill helps young players enhance their dribbling skills by teaching them to use the top side of their foot for better control. It encourages keeping the ball close while moving naturally and maintaining proper posture.


Instructions

Setup

  • Mark a 6-7 meter dribbling area.
  • Use cones, markers, or any safe object to define the space.

Starting Position

  • Stand at one end of the marked area with the ball at your feet.

Execution

  1. Dribble to the other end using only the right foot, focusing on touches with the top side of your foot. Avoid using toes or the inside of the foot.
  2. At the end of the area, perform a smooth turn and dribble back using only the left foot.
  3. Keep the ball close to your feet and maintain a natural running rhythm throughout.

Focus Points

  • Stay in a relaxed running posture.
  • Keep the ball close for better control and precision.

Repetitions and Sets

  • Complete 20 repetitions (back and forth equals one repetition).
  • Perform 3 sets, with short breaks between each set.

Equipment Needed

  • A size 3 or 4 soccer ball.
  • A flat, open space (indoors or outdoors) with room for 6-7 meters of dribbling.

Safety Tips

  • Ensure the dribbling area is clear of any obstacles or hazards.
  • Players should wear proper sports shoes for grip and stability.

Parents or coaches can observe the child’s ability to:

  • Keep the ball close to their feet.
